How the Headphone Works?

Earphones are often used in walkmans, radios, mobile phones and other devices. A plug is used to connect the source, and the sound directly enters our ears through the earphone. Earphones are essentially a pair of conversion units, which receive electrical signals from a media player or receiver, and drive speakers to convert them into sound waves into the ears. JiaWeiHua is a China headphone manufacturer, with 20 years of experience in headset manufacturing, the following JiaWeiHua will teach us some knowledge of the working principles of headsets.

Moving coil

The driving unit of the moving coil earphone (the larger the diameter, the better the earphone performance) is composed of a small moving coil speaker, which is driven by a voice coil in a permanent magnetic field, and the diaphragm connected to the speaker vibrates, and then there is sound output. This type of earphone is highly efficient, reliable and durable, and is often used in audio.

Moving iron

The moving iron earphone has a precisely structured connecting rod through which the vibration can be transmitted to the midpoint of the miniature diaphragm to make it sound. Moving iron earphones are in-ear earphones. Because of their small size, they can be easily placed in the ear canal. They often have a relatively soft silicone sleeve.

Isomagnetic

The drive unit of the isomagnetic earphone is equivalent to a small flat speaker. The flat voice coil is embedded in the film to make the driving force distribution uniform. The magnet is located on one or both sides of the diaphragm, and the diaphragm vibrates in a magnetic field to produce sound. This type of earphone is not suitable for driving, and the efficiency is not as good as the dynamic earphone.

Electrostatic

The diaphragm of an electrostatic earphone is light and thin. It is polarized by a high DC voltage (energy is generated by a battery or alternating current), and the diaphragm is located in an electrostatic field (consisting of two fixed metal plates). The working principle of electrostatic headphones is mainly to use an amplifier to amplify the audio signal into a voltage signal of hundreds of volts to drive the diaphragm to vibrate and produce sound. This kind of earphone has fast response speed and low distortion rate.

Electret

Compared with electrostatic earphones, electret earphones do not need to provide a polarization voltage because the diaphragm itself is polarized, or the electrostatic field emitted by a polarizing material outside the diaphragm is used to polarize it. The electret of this type of earphone will gradually depolarize and needs to be replaced.

Wireless cordless

Wireless headphones refer to headphones that use infrared to transmit signals. Cordless headphones refer to headphones that use radio waves to transmit signals. Wireless cordless headphones are mainly composed of a signal transmitter and a signal receiving and amplifying device. The transmitter is connected to a signal source to transmit signals. Adjust the tone color and improve the sound quality by connecting the pre-amplifier.
